The Mettā View

Conversations worth having

Hey Reader,

Some weeks the universe conspires to deliver an embarrassment of riches, and this is one of them. My cup overflows with conversations, connections, and upcoming gatherings that remind me why we do this work of weaving community together.

For The Metta Interview, I've adored my conversations with Paulette Perhach, Julia Astok, and Danielle Keller Aviram. All three brilliant women. Each wildly different from each other, yet without a doubt, sharing common values.

Meet Paulette, a charming and zesty author, writing coach and entrepreneur (she's launched software to help writers and essayists track their projects and submissions, called the Writer's Mission Control Center) currently based in NYC. Together we explored what we seek when we seek a creative life. The woman knows her craft but is also a delight to speak to, with more humor than ninety-five percent of people I know. Our conversation hits notes that are as profound as they are entertaining. Discover here

Next, we have Estonian artist and photographer Julia Astok. Maybe you know her already if you're on my Geneva event list, since she was a guest at our salon just over a year ago. Suffice to say, she made a profound impression on our gathering. The question Julia is grappling with is delicate and touches on something she's been healing in herself: how can we help people see the magic and beauty within themselves? She tells me about connecting to herself through nature, painting, self-portraiture, and we both open up about the difficulties we've had embracing and loving ourselves while seeing magic in others. A deep and delicate conversation, which makes for a great preface to Julia's upcoming workshop. More on that next week. Discover here

Third, Berlin-based sustainable jewellery consultant Danielle Keller, with whom I explored this equally powerful question: how to balance multiple identities and passions in a world that demands we choose just one? As a generalist myself, who's been juggling multiple interests for years (hello, what do we think Le Trente was born from?), Danielle tells me about her upbringing, how she was transformed by a trip to Uganda in her twenties, how she came to sustainable research after becoming a fine jeweller, and what bringing her multiple identities brings to her work. It's still a tender subject for many of us. What does it mean to show our multifaceted nature? Let's explore it together! Listen here

And to round things up, let me also tell you about the latest interview to drop on Out of the Clouds.

My latest guest is the very accomplished Tijana Tamburic, host of the podcast The Slow Down, co-founder of the creative agency Female Narratives, and named Forbes 30 under 30 for marketing. She delivered a powerful TEDx talk in Bucharest on the fascinating theme of 'how her masculine met her feminine' a few years ago. With all that, despite being a business owner and creative director, she's unlearning hustle culture one conversation at a time. In a twist of fate, the image of Tijana you see above was shot by none other than... Julia, mentioned prior. A powerful conversation with a visionary and thoughtful entrepreneur. Listen here

I'll quickly pause here to say: I'm not trying to make this an all-female lineup, but I'm just moving with where my energy (and my guests') are taking me.

BUT with that said, if you haven't heard the previous interview on Out of the Clouds with the wonderful artist Serge Mouangue, I highly recommend you do. The multidisciplinary creative is a wonderful storyteller who currently explores the notion of aesthetic dialogue between Japanese and West African cultures. Last month I had the great pleasure of seeing his pieces in the flesh at the AKAA art fair in Paris. His path is impressive, and yet he holds his success, and his work, delicately. Listen here.

Right. That was for the podcasts.

Now for the events.

First, I'd like to remind you that every week, I'm delighted to be hosting two meditation sessions: Mondays it's Mindful Together and Thursdays it's Metta Together (Metta meaning Loving Kindness, in case you don't know).

Next up, we'll talk about jewellery with Danielle Keller Aviram!

Beyond the Price of Gold: Unlocking the Holistic Value in Your Jewellery Box
Monday December 8th, 8am PST | 11am ET | 5pm CET

In this masterclass, we'll explore the comprehensive and holistic value residing in your family's (or your own) jewellery box and uncover the hidden opportunities within unused collections. We'll move beyond the quantifiable worth of components (gold, silver, platinum) and the 4Cs of diamonds (Carat, Cut, Color, Clarity) to focus on the non-transferable worth—think memories, milestones, and personal history—which often far exceeds the material cost.

Can't make it live? Register anyway and we'll send you the video and transcript afterward.

On Wednesday December 10th, we have our next Story Alchemy online event.

Think short guided meditation, a writing prompt, a space to write in silence, and then a group exchange. This practice is just as much geared toward those who want to write as those who want a space for self-coaching via the exploration of story.

Whether your stories feel tangled, half-formed, or messy, Story Alchemy is your hour to work with the raw material of your experience, dig for gold—with curiosity and compassion. This is a space where scattered memories are welcome, confusion is the norm, and gentle discovery is our only goal. Details and registration in this link.

As for our IRL events, next week Thursday December 11th, we have our next in-person salon, our first in French, with the wonderful thérapeute psycho-corporelle Florence Etienne. Quick reminder that this salon is private and you can RSVP via this link, on the Partiful App.

Then we'll round up our month with the third workshop of our Fall series with the wonderful
Libby Stockstill
.

Build a vision for how you want to close the year and welcome the next, meeting it all feeling grounded and nourished. Using the powerful imagery of nature and energy of the season, we'll create space for intention and build tools for the journey, releasing what we need to through the relaxing support of a soundbath. Register here

Et voilà! I hope that you'll find something intriguing or inspiring in any (or all) of the above, and that I'll have the pleasure to see you or host you online or in person very soon.

Until next time, wishing you a wonderful rest of the week.

Warmly,
